As everyone knows by now, Garrosh Hellscream will be the boss of Mists of Pandaria’s final content patch, and we take him down in an exciting-sounding “Siege of Orgrimmar.”
Now, there’s a lot of time between now and then, but I have to say…given what we’ve seen of Sylvanas in Cataclysm – being quite dastardly towards the Worgen during their starting zone, raising unwilling humans into new Forsaken and conscripting them into her forces, and her cold and callous treatment towards Koltira – I really expected her to be the Horde leader we’d end up killing as a raid boss. Garrosh has actually been quite level-headed and reasonable in his Cata appearances, in comparison.
I mean, one of these leaders has executed their overeager lieutenant, outraged that they bombed an innocent grove of druids. The other leader has utterly destroyed an enemy lakeshore town with plague and disease, leaving only sickly wreckage behind.
Which one sounds like a future villain to you?
Also…corrupted and doing really nasty things beneath their city? Um, are we SURE we’re not talking about Sylvanas? Maybe Garrosh has been taking pointers…
Yeah, I have to say I thought the same thing.
So let me get this straight, reanimating people against their will (which you complained about happening to you), using biological warfare even Garrosh says is too much, having your forces shoot fleeing civilians, possibly mind controlling those she’s reanimated if the sudden change in atitude of those dalaranians in silverpine and those militia in andorhal is to be rationalized, straight up reprogramming and/or torture of Koltira, using the forsaken as meat shields, using the Horde as tools, possibly knowing about the Plague well before the Wrathgate, attempting to mind-control the Worgen with the scythe of elune, whipping her people into a nigh-genocidal frenzy and overall acting exactly like a lower-power Lich King…
and yet Garrosh just acts like a warmonger and HE gets labled the bad guy? I get that he look like he’s dabbling in dark magic in Ragefire, but it just seem to me that the demons aren’t that much worse than the undead. I mean… Warlocks, anyone?
First!
(Am I random enough?)
Yeah, I’m kind of wondering what happens to ol’ Sylvy myself…
FIRST!
(She made me do it!)
We’d dethrone Sylvanas, but we’re afraid of her.
“Garrosh Hellscream will be the boss of Mists of Pandaria’s final content patch…”
“…given what we’ve seen of Sylvanas in Cataclysm”
“Garrosh has actually been quite level-headed and reasonable in his Cata appearances”
MoP =/= Cata. ^-^
Just a wild guess here, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the Old Gods are getting more powerful, getting ready to free themselves, etc… and as such, their corruption will start spreading faster and more abruptly than before. Maybe Garrosh will be corrupted simply so Blizz to make this point a little clearer. If this is what they’re doing, I just hope that they accentuate it better than the connection between Arthas & Yogg-Saron.
Just my 2 cents.
I don’t care who I kill, so long as they support the red team.
The fact that its Garrosh just makes it all the better, to be honest.
I kind of wondered if the whole female worgen fiasco hadn’t brought to their attention JUST how many women actually play WoW, and whether that isn’t why we’re *not* going after Sylvanas. They totally botched femme worgens, sidelined Tyrande in the calendar, and got called out on both. Perhaps they worried that making Sylvie the raid boss would be strike three in pissing off their female playerbase?
Personally, I’d love to take them both out. I liked Garrosh a tiny bit better after questing through Stonetalon, but since on an “I like you” scale of one to five he started as a zero, that doesn’t take much. Sylvanas was barely tolerable in Wrath, but in Cata she’s gone rabid. They should both be offed, for my money.
Usually, I would agree with you in regards to the female playerbase reason, but from the same article that rades (I’m assuming that’s the artist’s name) posted, it also hints that while garrosh may be an end-game boss, they may be making Jaina Proudmoore into an endgame boss too (And I like Jaina! Jaina and Illidan were my 2 favorite WC3 heroes!)
I think you might be under-playing Garrosh’s part in the evil things the horde has done (I’m not saying the horde is evil, but that they have done some pretty bad stuff. And yes, I’m aware that the alliance aren’t completely innocent in the war themselves). Example, Garrosh killed Cairne dishonorably with his axe that was poisoned “Against his knowledge”. (I don’t know the details on how the next part goes, but this is how I think it went down) The evil Grimtotem are accused, people attack them, and they get banished. And while I do believe they did poison the axe, Somehow Garrosh, the orc who slayed Cairne, is found completely innocent of Cairne’s murder. Also, your example of the druid bombing incident, I looked at the conversation, and I think this sums up the conversation:
Garrosh conveniently shows up directly after bombing and says, “You Bombed that place!?! How dare you!”
Unlucky captain, “B-but, leader, didn’t you just ordered me to kil-”
Garrosh, “I would’ve never said to kill innocents! I’m disgusted by your bloodlust, warmongering, and the disgrace to my honor. I kill you!”
And captain dies without a trial, and Garrosh is found innocent of whole debacle. And I’m not going into the atrocities that he did in Nelf land (I rudely used up too much text already. My apologies.) Now, Imagine I said Sylvanas every time I said garrosh just now. All I’m saying is that, were it one incident, it can be overlooked, but *A lot* has happened with garrosh, to the point that one can’t quite say he’s not quite evil. I agree that Sylvanas probably is the eviler of the two and should probably be the end expansion boss, but I believe Garrosh is a very close second.
…okay, that comment was waaayy to long. is there any way i can delete it?
Don’t worry about long comments! We love them. :D
Gotta disagree with you about Cairne’s death. Garrosh had absolutely nothing to do with the dishonorable nature of that incident, it was entirely Magatha behind it. Garrosh can’t even be blamed for the duel, because Cairne was the one who challenged him, not the other way around. Garrosh is actually just as mad at Magatha for poisoning the axe, because he was cheated out of an honorable duel, and he would have rather died honorable to a worthy foe than win dishonorably. (He says this, this isn’t guesswork.)
They need strong women as leaders of both factions. But in the Stag Club for Devs they have trouble seeing it in any useful way. They actually had Thrall saying ‘Ive never delt with an intelligent and strong willed woman before’ …
Glad Garrosh is gettin the axe, he killed my fave bovine leader. I don’t care if it was his fault or not it was his axe that landed that dirty blow
glad it’s commin full circle
After Garrosh goes, Sylvanas is probably going to get it: pimp-slapped by the Doomhammer anyone?
